Govenment fails to accept Tomlinson Challenge
Like most of the education profession, ACM is profoundly disappointed that the Government has largely rejected the findings of the Tomlinson Group. ACM General Secretary Peter Pendle said today "An important opportunity to create a better, inclusive and more coherent framework has been wasted. We are clinging to the hope that this lack of courage is due to the nearness of the General Election and No 10’s concern that the Tories would use major change to create serious alarm among voters; we hope that after May a new Labour Government (if they are re-elected) and perhaps a new Secretary of State may have the wisdom and commitment to all our young people to adopt the Tomlinson proposals more fully.
