Update on Pay Negotiations - July 2004

Following conclusion of the 2003/2004 pay negotiations the following joint statement has been issues by the trades unions and Association for Colleges. Copies of the relevant agreements are attached.

National Joint Forum Position Statement of the Successful Completion of Negotiations - July 2004

"We are pleased that we have an agreement on career families and pathways, performance management and job evaluation.

All three agreements will provide colleges with guidance on the agreed implementation of the pay recommendations.

Like other public services, the recommendation will afford colleges the opportunity to improve recruitment and retention of staff, provide enhanced career opportunities and deal with low pay in the sector to retain staff.

Both sides will continue to recommend the implementation of the agreement and support colleges, to this end."

Colleges should now be proceeding to implement the recommendations for 2004 including a 3% increase on all salaries and allowances with effect from 1 August 2004. ACM branches needing advice on this should contact the ACM helpline or email General Secretary Peter Pendle.
