ACM/TES DEBATES & ACM SEMINARS

Details of the ACM autumn seminar and debate series were sent to members with the last edition of ACM News. A reminder of the next ACM seminar and ACM/TES debate to be held in 2001 is given below:

  • Martin Lamb, Assistant Director of Learning Programmes Young People with the LSC, will lead the second seminar in the autumn series on 7th November 2001 in Birmingham. Spaces for this seminar are filling quickly, so please ensure that if you would like to attend your booking form is faxed back to us as soon as possible

  • The inaugural ACM/TES debate features Paul Mackney, NATFHE General Secretary and Reg Chapman OBE, Chief Executive of Blackpool & The Fylde College and ACM Council member. The debate will focus on the teaching pay initiative and Ian Nash, FE Editor of the TES, will chair the session. Once again, places for this debate are filling fast so fax back your booking form without delay.

ELECTIONS TO ACM COUNCIL AGM 2002 – AGM 2004

Members will soon be in receipt of a letter from Peter Pendle, Chief Executive & General Secretary, requesting nominations for representatives to join ACM Council with effect from the AGM 2002 (to be held in March) for a two year term. We very much look forward to welcoming new members onto Council and hope to receive your completed nomination forms by 30th November 2001. 21/09/01 Electoral Reform (Ballot Services) Limited (ERBS) to be instructed as Independent Scrutineer to conduct the ballot on behalf of ACM (if required) and Electoral Reform (Mailing Services) Limited (ERMS) to be instructed as the Independent Person to distribute the ballot papers.
18/10/01 Letter from General Secretary to be sent to members advising of election timetable, independent scrutineer and seeking nominations.
30/11/01 (5 pm) Closing date for nominations to be received at return address.
07/12/01 Nominations to be checked and approved by Council and sent to ERBS.
21/12/01 ERBS to compile and print ballot papers.
11/01/02 ERMS to distribute ballot papers, containing election addresses, to appropriate Members.
11/02/02 (5 pm) Closing date for voting papers to be returned to ERBS.
12/02/02 ERBS to count voting papers
15/02/02 ERBS to declare the results to the Association’s General Secretary. ERBS also to inform the General Secretary of receipt and resolution of any complaint alleging breach of the election procedures.
15/02/02 Scrutineer’s report to be posted at head office in a conspicuous place accessible to members and shall be kept posted there for at least one month
14/03/02 General Secretary to announce new representatives to Council at AGM.
08/04/01 New representatives to Council to be published in ACM News together with contents of
copy deadline the Scrutineer’s report. Members to be notified that the Association will, on request, supply any member with a copy of the report free of charge.
