A NEW STRATEGIC PLAN FOR ACM
The May meeting of Council considered the first draft
of the Associations new three-year strategic plan.
The plan identifies five key strategic goals that will be the focus
of the Associations activities over the next three years. Council
split into working groups to consider the plan in detail, recommending
a number of amendments, and authorised the Chief Executive to finalise
the plan. The five key strategic goals are briefly summarised below.
-
ACM aims to be an effective trade union offering employment protection
and services to its members. This can only be achieved if it prospers
as an independent organisation. ACM therefore needs to retain
and expand its membership base, initially within the further education
college sector but increasingly diversifying into new markets.
-
ACM will continue to provide a wide range of high quality, effective
and cost efficient services to its members. ACM will work to maintain
and improve its services, recognising that these are key to both
retention and recruitment of members.
-
At present, membership subscriptions make up the majority of
the Associations income. Improving and expanding services
in order to retain and recruit members will require additional
resources. ACM will therefore seek to diversify its income from
a variety of sources.
-
ACM is committed to continuous improvement in its management
and governance. It will make best use of its human and financial
resources. It will continue to develop effective and democratic
arrangements for gover-nance.
-
ACM seeks to maximise its influence through partner-ships and
collaborative working. In pursuit of its purpose to influence
national policy, ACM will continue to build partnerships and work
collaboratively with other organisations in the post compulsory
education and training sector.
