ACM is the trade union for college managers. We aim to:
- be an effective professional association and trades union in post-compulsory education and training
- achieve optimum pay and conditions of service for our members and ensure that their employment rights are protected
- develop and deliver a range of services which promote the professional development of our members
- influence policy at national level
- promote effective leadership through professionalism, teamwork and best practice
- advocate equality of opportunity and promote the needs of our members.
Any individual who has managerial responsibility for people or resources such as finance managers, estate managers, HR managers, marketing managers, MIS managers, contracts managers, and other business managers as well as those on the traditional management spine is eligible for ACM membership. ACM membership is not confined to any one level of management. All managers are eligible from the most junior to the college principal.
We provide all of our members with:
- confidential advice, guidance and information whether as an employee or a manager
- workplace support and representation by experienced regional officers
- information and guidance leaflets on employment matters and best practice
- briefings on key sector issues direct to your desktop
- national and regional helplines
- excellent professional development opportunities

Please note: In line with other trade unions, members are not entitled to workplace representation during the first three months of membership. However, if access to this service is required during the qualifying period, members may be able to make a one-off payment to gain immediate assistance, at the descretion of the Chief Executive and General Secretary. Please refer to the Associations procedure for providing workplace representaion to new members, available from the administration office.
