AMiE is the leadership section of ATL. We aim to:
- achieve optimum pay and conditions of service for our members and ensure that their employment rights are protected
- develop and deliver a range of services which promote the professional development of our members
- influence policy at national level
- promote effective leadership through professionalism, teamwork and best practice
- advocate equality of opportunity and promote the needs of our members.
Who Can Join?
In colleges (FE, adult education and sixth form): Principals, vice principals, heads of department, heads of faculty, heads of school, directors, curriculum managers, programme managers, and all other types of academic manager; plus any individual who has managerial responsibility for people or resources such as finance managers, estate managers, HR managers, marketing managers, MIS managers, contracts managers, and other business managers. All managers are eligible from the most junior to the college principal.
In schools (maintained, independent, academies etc): anyone with a leadership role is eligible, including headteachers, deputy and assistant heads, together with senior business managers or bursars.
Elsewhere in the education sector: Leaders and managers in bodies supporting or providing services to the education sector; and leaders and managers in private training providers.
