AMiE is the trade union and professional association for leaders and managers in colleges and schools. Arising from a partnership between ACM (The Association for College Management) and ATL (Association of Teachers and Lecturers), AMiE was launched on September 1st 2008. It combines all ACM’s members, and all ATL’s leadership and management members, into a single organisation.
AMiE’s central purpose is to bring all its members a world class service, comprising
- the support, expertise and resources of two of the UK’s leading unions
- unrivalled trade union support for individuals
- a wider range of core services such as expert publications and professional development opportunities
- membership of an organisation with enhanced and substantial political influence
- a wider range of additional services such as insurance and tax return deals
AMiE is made up of head teachers, deputy head teachers, school bursars, senior heads of department; and managers at all levels from further education, sixth form and adult education colleges. It also includes managers in universities, training organisations, and other areas of the education sector.
